Railers EHLP – Weekly Roundup November 2-8, 2021

It was another solid week of wins for the Worcester Railers Hockey Club EHL Premier team, who continue to dominate the league.

The Railers played two games over the weekend in an EHLP Showcase hosted by the Valley Jr. Warriors and were victorious in both games they played, making them 11-1 on the season.

On Saturday they beat the New Jersey Renegades 6-1 and Sunday cruised past the New Jersey 87s 5-1, the team that defeated them in the Frozen Finals last March.

Goaltending and offense continue to lead the way for the Railers as they have allowed just nine goals in the 12 games they have played. The offense continues to be on fire as it scored 11 more goals over the weekend bringing their season total to 48 goals scored.

Luke Geiger

In their first game of the weekend, the Railers got the goal scoring started early as Luke Geiger (Parking, NY) scored a little over two minutes in to give the Railers a 1-0 lead.

Later in the first half, Dryden Hawn (Mars, PA) put the Railers on top 2-0. In the second half, the Railers offense exploded for four goals to blow the game open.

Nick Solari

Nick Solari (Kingston, MA) scored the third goal and Jayden Blackburn (Palmer, MA) and JT Gary (Vienna, VA) followed that up with goals of their own making it 5-0 Railers.

The Renegades got one back late in the second half to make it 5-1, but Gary countered that with his second goal of the game to seal a 6-1 win.

Worcester kept their momentum going into their next game against the 87s. After getting down 1-0 early in the first half, the Railers turned on the scoring.

It started with a short-handed goal from Christopher Lawson (Southern Pines, NC) to tie the game at one. Minutes later, Blackburn scored to put the Railers on top 2-1.

Solari closed out the first half with his second goal of the weekend to give the Railers a 3-1 advantage.

In the second half, Gary continued his strong weekend with another goal to open up a 4-1 lead and Hawn added one late in the second to complete the 5-1 win in exciting fashion.

Cam Wickens

Cam Wickens (Revere, MA) was strong in net finishing with 16 saves in the victory.

Next up, the Railers will host the Walpole Express Friday November 12 at 6:40 pm and play the New Hampshire Avalanche at the Ice Den Arena Saturday at 4:20 pm.
