Railers EHL – Weekly Roundup November 2-8, 2021

It was another undefeated week for the Worcester Railers Jr. Hockey Club’s EHL team as they continue to show why they one of the top teams in the league.

The Railers have now won five straight overall including four straight impressive wins this past week over tough opponents.

In their first game of the week the Railers beat the East Coast Wizards 6-4 on Thursday. Worcester then played in the third EHL Showcase of the season, hosted by the Valley Jr. Warriors and swept all three of their games. They started off with a 5-4 win over the Vermont Lumberjacks on Saturday, downed the Jr. Warriors 7-1 on Sunday and shutout the Boston Jr. Rangers Monday 2-0, ending their week on a high note and ending the Boston Jr. Rangers 10-game winning streak.

The Railers now stand at an impressive 12-3-1 through the team’s first 16 games and hope to keep it moving.

In their first game of the week, the Railers started off strong beating the East Coast Wizards for the second time this season.

39 seconds into the game, Mike Martignetti (Winchester, MA) got the scoring started for the Railers. The Wizards got one back mid-way through the first to tie the game at one.

Later in the first, Matt Pimental (East Providence, RI) gave the Railers a 2-1 lead.

Jack Lee

The second period got interesting as after two short-handed goals by Jack Lee (Chicago, IL) made it 4-2 Railers, the Wizards quickly got two back to tie the game at four.

Ryan Moorhouse (Westfield, MA) put Worcester on top later in the second 5-4. The Railers then sealed the victory on a power play goal by Damon Dulac (Quebec City, QUE) giving them the 6-4 win.

In the first game of the Showcase the Railers took on the Vermont Lumberjacks and had a great comeback win over a tough opponent.

The Railers got on the board first with two first half goals by Anthony Marchant (Norwood, MA) and another shorthanded goal by Lee to make it 2-0.

Vermont responded right back getting two of their own to tie the game at two heading into intermission.

A minute into the second half, Vermont took a 3-2 lead. It didn’t take long for the Railers to respond back as they tied the game at three on a power play goal by Drew Oliveri (Swampscott, MA) and took the lead on a goal by Matt Lombardi (Hudson, MA).

Back and forth it went as Vermont then tied the game at four. Less than a minute later, Dulac scored to give the Railers a 5-4 advantage and they won by that score.

Mike DiMascolo

In game two of the weekend showcase, the Railers offense exploded yet again lead by a hat trick from Mike DiMascolo (Cranston, RI) and Xavier Lapierre’s (Cap Santé, QUE) first EHL win in goal.

Also scoring for the Railers in this one were Tyler Anastasi (Andover, MA), Charlie Addesa (Andover, MA), Pimental and Dulac powering Worcester to a 7-1 lead.

In their final game of the Showacase, the Railers took on a strong Boston Jr. Rangers team.

It was well-played game between the two top-ranked teams in the EHL. Colin Roe (Hyde Park, MA) gave the Railers a 1-0 lead in the first half.

The score remained the same heading into the second half. Early in the second Lombardi scored to put the Railers on top 2-0 and that is all that was needed.
