Railers EHL – Weekly Roundup December 1-7, 2021

In their return to play after Thanksgiving break, the Worcester Railers Jr. Hockey Club’s EHL team split the two games they played.

Stefan Kulhanek

In their first game back after a long hiatus on Friday, the Railers lost 4-2 to the Walpole Express. They got back on track Monday with a 3-0 win over the East Coast Wizards highlighted by a 29 save shutout from goalie Stefan Kulhanek (Wein, AUT).

The game against the Express was a tight battle as the two teams were held scoreless through the first two periods.

54 seconds into the third period, Walpole got on the board with the first goal of the game. The Railers responded right back with a power play goal from Conor Donovan (Nahant, MA) to tie the game at one.

Midway through the period, Walpole struck for two goals in a little over a minute to take a late 3-1 lead.

Mike DiMascolo

With less than two minutes remaining in the game, the Railers once again used the power play to their advantage, this time with Mike DiMascolo (Cranston, RI) getting the goal to cut the lead to 3-2.

Walpole added another goal with 20 seconds left in the game to seal the 4-2 win and hand the Railers only their fourth loss of the season.

In Monday’s game against the Wizards the game was scoreless through one period of play. In the second period, Worcester scored first on a goal by Damon Dulac (Quebec City, QUE) to take a 1-0 lead.

Later on in the period, DiMascolo put the Railers on top 2-0 with the assist going to Dulac. The Railers would add an empty net goal from Colin Roe (Hyde Park, MA) with two seconds left in the game to complete the win.

Next up, the Railers play the Connecticut Chiefs Friday December 10th at Newington Arena (12:30 pm) and the New Hampshire Avalanche Saturday December 11th at the Ice Den Arena (4:20 pm).
