Railers EHL – Weekly Roundup December 8-13, 2021

The Worcester Railers Jr. Hockey Club’s EHL team was back in action this week playing a pair of games against the Connecticut Chiefs and the New Hampshire Avalanche.

Damon Dulac

The Railers came away with a split, winning their game Friday over the Chiefs in a thrilling 4-3 overtime decision on a goal by Damon Dulac (Quebec City, QUE) and falling 6-2 Saturday to the Avalanche.

It was a back-and-forth game against the Chiefs where the Railers battled back from being down on three different occasions.

Down 1-0 heading into the second period, Ryan Moorhouse (Westfield, MA) tied the game at one.

The third period was busy as it started with the Chiefs taking a 2-1 lead early on. At 10:49 of third Shawn Spring (Lowell, MA) tied the game at two.

Back and forth it went as the Chiefs came right back seconds later to take a 3-2 lead. The Railers kept fighting and late in the third Drew Oliveri (Swampscott, MA) tied the game at three sending it into overtime.

4:51 into overtime, Dulac scored the game winner giving the Railers the comeback win in exciting fashion.

Xavier Lapierre

Xavier Lapierre (Cap Santé, QUE) was exceptional in net for the Railers, making a number of highlight reel saves to keep his team in the game.

The following day the Railers battled the Avalanche. After getting down 2-0 early in the first period, Charlie Addesa (Andover, MA) cut the lead in half making it a 2-1 game.

The Railers tied the game at two on a Mike DiMascolo (Cranston, RI) power play goal to start the second, but that is all they would get as the rest of the game was all Avalanche. They scored two in the second and two more in the third to hand the Railers their fifth loss of the season.

In their last week of play before the holiday break, the Railers will play in a showcase hosted by the Connecticut Chiefs at Newington Arena.

First they will take on the New York Apple Core on Tuesday (12 pm), the Connecticut RoughRiders Wednesday (6 pm) and Team Maryland Thursday (12:10 pm). The Railers will finish 2021 off playing Saturday December 18th at home against the New England Wolves (7:20 pm).
