Railers EHLP – Weekly Roundup January 6-11, 2022

The Worcester Railers Jr. Hockey Club’s EHLP team started off the new year in exciting way, winning both games they played. 

They took on the Valley Junior Warriors Saturday and won 7-4 and then Sunday played the Connecticut Chiefs winning 4-3 in a comeback overtime win. 

It was a busy first period for the Railers in their game against the Warriors as they put up three goals. Daniel Schnack (Ringoes, NJ) put the Railers up 1-0. After the Warriors tied the game at one, Max Beaulac (Fitchburg, MA) and Christian McKinley (Odessa, TX) both scored, putting Worcester on top 3-1. 

Jackson Duquette

Back and forth the game went as the second period saw five total goals scored. Jackson Duquette (Wilbraham, MA) scored two goals in the second for the Railers, one on the power play and one short-handed. 

The Warriors scored three in the period, however, cutting the Railers lead to one entering the final 20 minutes. Two minutes into the third period, Ted Justicz (Harvard, MA) put the Railers on top 6-4 and with one second left Thomas Caron (Plattsburg, NY) added an empty net tally.

On Sunday in their game against the Chiefs, the score was 1-0 Chiefs heading into the second period. 

Early in the second, JT Gary (Vienna, VA) tied the game at one, but shortly after the Chiefs regained their lead. 

The Railers yet again came back to tie the game at two on a goal by Brayson Bennett (Columbus, IN).

Nick Solari (Kingston, MA) gave the Railers a 3-2 lead mid-way through the third, but with one minute left in regulation Connecticut tied the game sending it into overtime.

For the third time in the game, Worcester came back, this time with Aidan Swain (Richmond, VA) scoring the game winner 1:24 into the overtime period.

Next up, the Railers take on the Walpole Express at the Ice Den Arena Monday January 17th (10:10 am)
