Railers EHL – Weekly Roundup January 25-31, 2022

After losing three of their last previous four games, the Worcester Railers Jr. Hockey Club’s EHL team was looking to get back on track and they did just that.

In their only game of the week, the Railers defeated the Boston Junior Rangers 3-2 Wednesday in a tight battle.

In four games with the Rangers this season, the Railers now have a 3-1 lead in the series and continue to play well against one of the top teams in the league.

The Railers came right out of the gate scoring early on a Logan Hawley (Phoenix, AZ) goal to get on the board.

Midway through the second period, the Railers used the power play to their advantage again. This time with Mike Martignetti (Winchester, MA) scoring to put Worcester up 2-0.

Early in the third, the Railers made it 3-0 on a power play goal by Drew Olivieri (Swampscott, MA).

The Rangers didn’t go down without a fight as they cut the lead to 3-1 14 minutes into the third period. They weren’t done there as with a minute left in the game, they scored a power play goal to make it 3-2.

The Railers held on the rest of the way for the big win. Worcester goalie Stefan Kulhanek (Wein, AUT) was impressive between the pipes, finishing with 44 saves.

It is a busy week for the Railers (22-11-1), Next up, they host the East Coast Wizards Tuesday (11:30 am), host the Connecticut Chiefs Thursday (11:30 am) and play the Walpole Express Saturday at Rodman Arena (5:10 pm).
